How light is the fabric really?

It is featherlight polyester, soft enough that you barely register wearing it over a swimsuit in the heat. The trade-off is that it moves with the wind, which is precisely the effect on a beach or a pool deck, and it packs down to almost nothing in a bag.

Do the bell sleeves get in the way at the pool?

They float, so they are made for lounging rather than for carrying trays of drinks. Push them up at the elbow when you need your hands free. Their real moment is when you walk: the sweep of the sleeve against the maxi length is the whole point of the piece.

Will one size work over a curvier figure?

Does chlorine or salt water damage it?

Rinse it in cool fresh water if it takes a splash of pool or sea water, then wash it cold on a delicate cycle and air dry it in the shade. Letting chlorine or salt dry into the fabric is what dulls tie-dye colors over a season, so rinse early.
